SOME VICTORIES are bittersweet, and that will certainly be the case if one Leeds couple take home the crown in a national contest.

Chocolatiers Stephen and Sun Trigg have made it to the final of the Great British Salted Chocolate Challenge, which takes place in London on Friday. The pair, who run the award-winning luxury confectionary firm Lauden Chocolates in Kirkstall, will go head-to-head with the industry’s finest.

Each chocolatier has been given up to 10 artisan, smoked and fusion salts to work with in developing up to two salted chocolates for the challenge, which will then be put to a panel of expert judges.

Mr Trigg said: “We’ve been working hard towards presenting our creations with our eye on the prize of a trip to New York, but more importantly a chance of having the chocolate fast tracked into a top London food hall in time for Christmas.”

The contest is being filmed for a new television series which is set to capitalise on the nation’s appetite for the Great British Bake Off.
