Heptathlete Jessica Ennis has announced that she has become engaged.
The European heptathlon and world indoor pentathlon champion posted the news of her engagement on her Twitter page.
Ennis, 24, who won gold at the European Championships in Barcelona, revealed that she got engaged on Christmas Eve to long-term boyfriend construction worker Andy Hill.
She tweeted: "Hey, wanted to tell close friends and family first.
"But I got engaged on Christmas Eve! Really happy and very excited!"
Last month Sheffield-born Ennis came third in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award, losing out to jockey Tony McCoy.
