Work has begun on a new £7m project to expand the Leeds factory of Britvic Soft Drinks – a move which will create 40 new jobs.

The major construction project at the Swinnow Lane site in Bramley will allow the drinks company to increase its production capacity and take its total staff numbers to more than 200.

The factory warehouse currently produces mixers and fruit juices, such as J20, for the domestic and international market. Pontefract-based contractors HCM Projects has now begun work on the site.

John Marshall, Project Engineer at Britvic, said: “We’re delighted this work is now underway, that will enable us to significantly expand our workforce and will create one of the most advanced bottling plants in Europe.”

Jason Adlam, chief executive of HCM, said: “It’s always great to be working on high profile sites close to our Yorkshire base.”
