Police have launched an investigation into allegations of child sex abuse at a Leeds scout group.

Officers from Leeds Child Safeguarding Unit started the inquiry after receiving allegations from two men that they were abused as members of Micklefield scout group in the 1970s.

A 75-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of child sex offences and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Laura Ireland, of Leeds Child Safeguarding Unit, said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we would appeal for anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation to contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Ireland at Elland Road police station on 0113 3859595 or by e-mailing laura.ireland@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
