AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a serious fire at a pizza shop in Cross Gates.

One person was taken to hospital after suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation after the fire at Livorno Pizzas on Austhorpe Road, just after 4.30am on Saturday. (August 8)

Crew commander Gareth Smith, of Gipton Fire Station, said the fire investigation team was at the site over the weekend to determine the cause of the fire.

“It was a serious fire downstairs that broke through to the flat above,” he said.

“The day shift team went down to continue damping down, and the fire investigation team is there to try to find out the cause.”

Fire crews from Stanks, Gipton and Leeds attended the blaze, which was well alight when they got to the scene.
