Investigation after fire at former Burley pub

AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a fire at a derelict pub in Burley last night (Saturday).

Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at the George IV on Kirkstall Road, Burley at around 11.30pm.

Appliances from Cookridge, Moortown, Stanningley and Gipton attended, along with specialist investigation officers.

Half of the former pub building was involved in the fire, over a 30m by 20m area. Firefighters using four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and positive pressure ventilation were able to extinguish the fire.
