OWNERS of a new shoe shop in Leeds have taken a step back in time with their latest venture.

‘Wa’ Sole in Yeadon opened its doors on the High Street after taking over the site of a former beauty salon and dance shop.

But owners Julie Binks and Steven Forrest have just discovered they are taking the shop back to its roots, after being informed that the site was originally a shoemakers back in the 1920s.

The couple have found an old photo of the former Chippendale’s store, and are keen to find out more about its history.

Julie said: “It is nice to think we are taking it back to its roots.

“We would be really interested to know more history about the shop, so if anyone knows anything, they can pop in.

“It gives us a warm feeling to know that it used to be a shoemakers! We’ve put the photo up in the window and it’s become a bit of a talking point.”
