Ilkley Carnival has paid out over £10,000 to a number of local causes.

The cheques were presented this week to representatives of all primary beneficiaries at the Kashmiri Aroma restaurant in Burley, home of the main sponsor of the event.

Carnival chairman Andrew Stacey said: “It’s a real pleasure to hand over the funds raised at this year’s Ilkley Carnival to so many local beneficiaries.”

One of those to benefit is Ilkley Cricket Club, who were affected by the Boxing Day floods.

Club president Jim Scally said: “It’s wonderful to know there is such altruism in our community.”
