The transformation of Bretton Hall mansion house has taken a step forward, after developers were granted a licence to operate a country house hotel at the site.

Bretton Investment Partnership Ltd wants to turn the property near Wakefield into a hotel with bar, restaurant, gym, spa and conference and wedding facilities.

The company has now been granted a premises licence, meaning the development can sell alcohol and provide late night refreshments.

It also means that entertainment can take place in the hotel and grounds, though there are restrictions in place.
