The RAF has identified a pair of military helicopters which were seen over Leeds and Wakefield today.

The choppers were seen hovering above Leeds city centre and the Burley Road area on Wednesday afternoon, and were also spotted landing and taking off at Pinderfields Hospital.

An RAF spokesman identified the aircraft as Puma HC2s from 33 Squadron, who are based at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, a specialist helicopter operations hub.

He added that they were likely to be on a training exercise using helipads and landing sites in the area.

Leeds General Infirmary is among the local buildings which has a helipad on its roof.

Grace Cooper took these images of the helicopters landing at Pinderfields.
