YEP Best of Health Awards: More time to find health stars

The closing date for nominations in the YEP Best of Health Awards 2016 has now been extended to November 1.

The awards will honour the top employees and volunteers in the health field from across Yorkshire, everyone from doctors and nurses to midwives and carers.

And, a new category has been introduced for this year – First Practice Management will be sponsoring the practice manager category, aiming to reward those working in this role.

Nicola Furbisher, editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post, said: “We wanted to give all our readers the opportunity to put forward those health workers who have made a real difference to their lives.

“Now they will have more time to ensure their choices are nominated – it’s a chance to give these hardworking and dedicated individuals the recognition they deserve.”

She said the new category would highlight the work of practice managers, which sometimes goes unnoticed.

“Practice managers often work behind-the-scenes but do a vital job keeping GP practices running. We look forward to hearing about those members of staff who go above and beyond to provide an excellent service to patients,” Nicola added.

Other categories include for community health workers, mental health staff, unsung heroes and teams. There’s also chance to honour carers, emergency response workers, doctors, nurses and midwives, and there’s a special recognition award for an incredible individual, team or family.
