A charity masterminding the campaign to save children’s heart surgery in Leeds is urging supporters to make sure their voices are heard.
As reported in the Yorkshire Evening Post, an independent panel rejected calls for a review of the plans by the Health Secretary.
But it did rule that an assessment of where people would travel to if the Leeds unit was shut should be considered as part of the final decision.
Sharon Cheng, director of the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, said: “Research clearly shows that many people across the region would not travel to the Newcastle Unit, if Leeds was forced to close. This is a fundamental point that must be taken into account.”
