A COUNCIL worker’s retribution after a woman friend told him she had been asked to perform a sexual act in return for a lift home brought him a court appearance and a bill for more than £500.
Raymond de Gruchy pleaded guilty before Harrogate magistrates to criminal damage and causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress.
Prosecutor Kathy Turnbull said de Gruchy, 42, had walked into a Balti house in Westmoreland Street, Harrogate, and made crude and racial comments to staff .
When he was chased from the premises, de Gruchy, of Westmoreland Street, jumped on to the bonnet of a red Toyota Carina, parked outside. He then clambered on to the roof and jumped up and down before falling to the floor.
Miss Turnbull said dents in the roof would cost around £300 to put right.
Geoffrey Rogers, for de Gruchy, said the offences had their origins earlier when a woman friend told him that when she asked one of the Balti house’s drivers – who owned a red car – for a lift home, he had responded by telling her she could have one in return for ‘‘a sexual favour’’.
