Harrogate: Couple die in country road crash

A young couple were killed outright and another middle aged man and woman seriously injured in a crash on a country road near Harrogate.

The smash happened on Tuesday on the Ripley to Pateley Bridge road at a location known locally as Dinmoor House.

The collision involved a red Peugeot 306 being driven towards Summerbridge by a 37-year-old woman from Knaresborough and containing her 32-year-old Harrogate boyfriend and a green Audi A8 travelling in the opposite direction and containing a couple from Grassington both aged in their 50s.

The occupants of the Peugeot were pronounced dead at the scene. The couple from the Audi were taken to Harrogate District Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The road was closed for six hours.
