A gritting lorry caused about £7,000 of damage when it spun off an icy road and crashed into a car showroom in Leeds

But the bill for the crash on Friday (Jan 25) could have been far higher - the lorry demolished a wall and smashed two plate glass windows at Go Vehicles in Long Row before coming to rest just inches away from an £18,000 BMW cabriolet, which was next to a £34,000 Mercedes.

Director Jerome Rayner said: “We were lucky - he was literally about six-and-a-half inches away and the glass was pushed up against the vehicle. It was a miracle no-one was walking about. He was coming up the road and spun three hundred and sixty degrees into the showroom.”
