#GIVELOVELEEDS: The wait is almost over for good causes seeking cash boost

Supporters of good causes across Leeds are holding their breath today as they wait to find out whether they have been awarded a share of a £60,000 pot of funding.

The Leeds Fund was launched with backing from the Yorkshire Evening Post in June as a way to give extra help to community groups across our city.

Today, a welcome cash boost of more than £60,000 is set to be shared out to good causes in the form of #GiveLoveLeeds grants.

Nicola Furbisher, Editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that we are part of such a wonderful initiative and I can imagine there are a lot of excited community group members today, waiting with their fingers crossed to see if they will get a much-deserved funding boost.

“We will publish the full list of receipients in tomorrow’s YEP. I can’t wait to find out who has been successful this time.”

Since the launch in June, the fund, managed by Leeds Community Foundation, has seen a huge demand for funding due to the urgent need within local communities.

To meet the demand, the LCF approaches local businesses and individuals to encourage them to get involved and help out with the shortfall in funding. John Lewis Leeds is the major supporter for 2016.
