Organisers of Yorkshire's biggest half marathon have announced entries for next year's event will be open tomorrow morning. (Friday)

Over 9,000 people signed up to this year’s Plusnet Leeds Half Marathon to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities and good causes.

The 2016 event will take place on Sunday, May 8, and organisers expect places will once again be in huge demand.

The route starts in The Headrow alongside Victoria Gardens, heads out of the city centre, takes in a section of the Ring Road and returns via Abbey Road and Kirkstall Road before finishing in Cookridge Street alongside Millennium Square.

The event, organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All in partnership with Leeds City Council, forms part of the Plusnet Marathon Series that also features the Yorkshire Half Marathon-Sheffield and the Yorkshire Marathon.

Charlie Tatman, event director, of Run For All, said: “The Plusnet Leeds Half Marathon is always eagerly anticipated by runners and spectators alike.

"There is always a great buzz about the event and we are already looking forward to 2016.”

Entries will be open from 9am on Friday, October 30.
