PEOPLE in Leeds can make a splash on Saturday as the city council celebrates Team GB’s success at the Rio Olympics.
Free swimming sessions will be on offer for all ages at selected times through the day as part of a National Lottery and ITV-backed initiative called I Am Team GB.
The sessions are available at Armley, Aireborough, Holt Park, Morley, Pudsey, Rothwell, Scott Hall and Wetherby leisure centres as well as the John Charles Centre for Sport.
Leeds City Council’s executive member with responsibility for sport, Coun James Lewis, said: “Team GB have made us all very proud with their performances in Rio and, from a Leeds perspective, it was absolutely fantastic to see so many of our city’s athletes perform so well and come home with medals.
“We are therefore delighted to be playing our part in the I Am Team GB initiative this Saturday by offering a selection of free swimming sessions for our residents.”
I Am Team GB is aiming to get as many people as possible involved in what is being billed as the nation’s biggest-ever sports day.
