Free pizza giveaway to benefit people with learning needs in Leeds

Have your say

Italian food lovers are in for a slice of the action when a new pizza shop gives away its wares free of charge.

Papa John’s will be asking for donations to a charity in lieu of payment at the official opening of its shop on Meanwood Road at noon on Saturday August 23.

The event, which will benefit People In Action – which cares for young people and adults who encounter learning difficulties and disabilities in Leeds – will see 200 pepperoni and cheese and tomato pizzas given away to hungry customers free of charge on a first come first served basis.

The shop, which opened several weeks ago, created 25 new jobs.

Owner Dan Wilkinson said: “We are delighted that we are able to support a charity that is close to the hearts of many local people and People In Action is such a great cause.

“We understand the good work that the charity does for many people and their families in the local area so we hope our donations can help them to continue the fantastic care they provide.”
