Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips spun into north Leeds as VIP guest at a retirement home in Shadwell.

The award-winning choreographer and theatre director visited McCarthy and Stone’s Thackrah Court to host afternoon tea before a Q&A session over a glass of bubbly.

The visit was down to Arlene’s role as an ambassador for The Colour Report - a research study by McCarthy and Stone of over 2,500 retirees which aims to break down negative stereotypes of the older generation.

She said: “I am delighted to have been asked to visit Thackrah Court in Shadwell. As an ambassador for The Colour Report, I know that retirees today are redefining what it means to grow old. We are independent, active individuals who are seeking new experiences and fulfilling lifelong ambitions, no matter what our age. The homeowners at Thackrah Court are no different and I just know they will enjoy the quality surroundings and bustling community on offer there.”
