Firefighters rescued a person from the thirteenth floor of a block of flats after fire broke out this evening (Sunday).

Officers from Stanks, Hunslet, Gipton and Hunslet attended the fire at Marlborough Towers, Park Lane, Woodhouse, at around 8.50pm.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus to help the person to safety and put out the flames.

Meanwhile, firefighters from Leeds, Hunslet and Stanningley were called out to a former medical centre at Carcroft, Armley just after 8.05pm.

The two-storey building, which was derelict, was entirely engulfed.

People around the world are marking Earth Hour this evening. People in Britain are expected to join in at 8.30pm... and then they will switch their clocks forward tonight as British Summer Time begins.

Get ready to turn your clocks forward... but before that expect things to get much darker
