WITH summer in full swing, one Leeds bar is hoping to take punters to a tropical paradise.
The Hedonist Project on Lower Briggate has been transformed into Trader Dan’s Surf Shack.
The bar builds on the success of the Rum Shack, which popped up in the Northern Quarter last year.
Bruce Lerman, from the Hedonist Project, said: “After the success of the Rum Shack we took note that Leeds really does love rum. This year we wanted to try and do something a little bit different and Trader Dan’s Surf Shack was born.
“We are joining California with Hawaii to create a lazy easy-going environment.”
Sponsor Quiksilver is also bringing a slice of California to Yorkshire with the clothing and interior design.
The food will have Caribbean and Polynesian influences, with dishes such as homemade crab cakes and chicken wings in a rum and orange peel sauce.
The Hedonist Project’s venue changes concept every few months, switching up its decor, music, food and drinks menu to fit around a certain theme.
Trader Dan’s Surf Shack takes over Tom’s Gin Kitchen and opens today until October 1.
