A firefighter needed a check-up in hospital after suffering smoke inhalation in a blaze in the early hours of this morning.

The fire broke out in the high-rise Cottingley Towers, Beeston, at half-past midnight.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels.

People were thought to be in the flat, but no one was found.

Five fire engines attended the scene, two from Hunslet, two from Leeds and one from Morley, along with a fire investigation officer.
