Formerly homeless people in Leeds served up a festive treat for the elderly at a Christmas dinner.

Eight people from Emmaus, a charity that houses and supports people who used to live on the streets, cooked and served a three-course dinner for members of elderly support group Burmantofts Senior Action. The event took place at the Emmaus Leeds centre in St Mary’s Street. Volunteers from Emmaus also arranged entertainment for elderly visitors, including bingo and a raffle. Andy Jones, companion at Emmaus Leeds, said: “I’ve volunteered my time to cook the Christmas meal for Burmantofts Senior Action for the last four years and it is always a pleasure.

“We look forward to seeing the familiar faces and meeting some new ones.”
