A NEW £50,000 play area and improvements to Holbeck Moor playground is now underway, thanks to funding from ward councillors.

Councillors David Congreve, Adam Ogilvie and Angela Gabriel (Labour, Beeston & Holbeck) are delighted that £50,000 worth of funding has been secured for the refurbishment of the inner-city area, and work has now started.

Funding comes from the city councillors’ Ward Based Initiative (WBI) fund and the Inner South Area Committee.

The improvements, to be completed by the Council’s Parks Countryside Department, include new swings, climbing frames, a slide, merry-go-round and see saw.

Coun Congreve added: “The playground was in serious need of new equipment. We look forward to seeing the changes completed before the end of March.”
