The majority of English football fans agree with the FA’s decision to part company with manager Sam Allardyce.

A poll by data website Latestbettingsites.co.uk questioned over 2,000 supporters of the national team about the recent departure of Allardyce, who was secretly filmed advising businessmen on how to get around transfer regulations.

The survey found that 66 per cent believe the FA were right to replace him, with only 17 per cent thinking he should have been able to remain in his post. More than half thought he should have been sacked rather than allowed to tender his resignation, and a quarter were undecided.

Site editor Richard Luck said:-

“Big Sam always seemed to relish his reputation as a diamond geezer – the fans’ pitch-side representative. But here you have the very people whose support he always assumed he could count on agreeing en-masse with the FA dismissing him.”

Since his resignation, Allardyce has been spotted holidaying at his villa near Benidorm.
