Elderly woman rescued from blaze at Harrogate flat

FIRE crews rescued an elderly woman following a blaze in a bedroom at a flat in Harrogate this morning.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at the ground-floor flat in Dene Park just before 6am today. (Sunday May 1)

Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued an elderly woman from a bedroom at the flat.

She was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
