NEw College at Pontefract has won £1.5m of government funding to build a new visual arts academy.

The new academy building will replace the existing arts, textiles and photography building at the college’s Park Lane campus.

College principal Pauline Hagen said: “This third successful application for funding reflects the great success of New College in all areas. This funding will enable us to have a first class visual arts academy to complement our modern science labs, our new performance academy and our new learning resource centre.

“I am delighted and proud of our ability to match outstanding provision with outstanding buildings to give our students what they genuinely deserve.”
