Swimming pupils in Wakefield had a lesson from the best when four-time Olympic medallist Rebecca Adlington turned teacher for the day.
The swimming star launched her new ‘Swim Stars’ initiative at Total Fitness in Wakefield yesterday which aims to help all children leaving primary school to be able to swim at least 25 metres.
The health club now joins a nationwide network which offer the ‘Becky’s Swim Stars’ programme. The Olympic champion said: “Despite my retirement from competitive swimming, my commitment is as strong as it ever was. I’m delighted that, after a very successful first year, my Becky Adlington’s SwimStars programme is going from strength to strength and we are rolling out new swim schools across the UK.”
