PLANS have been drawn up for a new classroom block at a school in the Hunslet area of Leeds.

The new block at Hunslet St Mary’s C of E Primary is being proposed to help the school cope with a demand for increased space.

An application for planning permission for the scheme has been submitted to Leeds City Council.

A supporting document lodged with the planning application says the proposed works would “enhance the school’s facilities and enable both pupils and staff to make better use of the existing space afforded”.

The document also says an existing hard play area to the east of the Church Street school building would be excavated to form a base for the classroom block.

A new hard play area would also be created as part of the scheme.

The supporting document adds: “Due to the site constraints it is not feasible to provide additional car park spaces on site.”
