Around 1,200 youngsters from across Leeds are eagerly awaiting official confirmation that they are world record-breakers.
Youngsters from 15 of the city’s schools took part in SignHealth’s attempt to set a new record for the most people signing and singing at the same time. Steve Powell, chief executive of the charity, said more than 135,000 schoolchildren were believed to have taken part on February 6 but the exact number would be confirmed by Guinness World Records.
He said: “The previous world record, which we set last year, was 114,277 so we are hoping to have smashed this.”
Jo Todd, headteacher of Westroyd Junior and Infant School in Farsley, said: “The children loved it.”
