Youngsters at a Leeds school were left wheeling for joy after receiving 20 free bikes and helmets.

Pupils at Wykebeck Primary were given the cycles by Halford in a bid to encourage children to cycle.

The school received the special delivery as part of a scheme from Halfords which reconditions and donates bikes and new helmets to primary school children.

Emma Wilson from the school praised the scheme and said: “The donations of bikes couldn’t have come at a better time for Wykebeck.

“In the long run, the bikes will enable us to promote a healthy lifestyle and bike safety through a lunchtime cycle club.”
