THE first phase of a scheme to plant more than 10,000 trees in Temple Newsam Park has started.

Around 100 school pupils and the the Lord Mayor of Leeds Coun Judith Chapman attended the event.

It was part of the ‘Treemendous with Velvet’ campaign which is run by the the company in partnership with Trees for Cities charity.

The charity aims to provide volunteering opportunities linked to the planting of trees in urban areas.
