Shoppers can save a sack full of money by parking on rented driveways as Christmas approaches.
Some shopping centre car parks cost three times or more than that of YourParkingSpace.co.uk sites
Many YourParkingSpace.co.uk sites just minutes from shopping centres
Shoppers can save money this Christmas by parking on rented driveways and empty parking spaces near to shopping centre car parks.
The new research by online parking portal YourParkingSpace.co.uk reveals that the cost of parking in town and city shopping centres can be three times or more than that of parking on nearby rented driveways and empty parking spaces.
And with the average UK family splashing out about £800 on Christmas, cheaper parking is one way to cut costs, especially if trips to a shopping centre are a frequent occurrence.
For instance, shoppers going to The Light in Leeds would need to pay £13.50 if parking at the complex for six hours, but those happy to walk just 12 minutes’ can find a nearby space for only £2.50 with YourParkingSpace.co.uk
Meanwhile, shopping at the popular Centrale & Whitgift in central Croydon at the weekend can cost car owners £10 for a six hour stay at the Centrale car park, whereby YourParkingSpace.co.uk offers a site for just £5 and five minutes’ walk away.
Midland shoppers can also ‘bag’ a parking bargain. A trip to the busy Bullring Shopping Centre can cost £10.00 for six hours but just £6.25 and a short four minutes’ walk away with YourParkingSpace.co.uk
Harrison Woods, Managing Director at YourParkingSpace.co.uk, said: “Everyone loves a bargain when they go shopping but many car owners are overlooking a great saving opportunity when they park their car.
“Some YourParkingSpace.co.uk sites are well over half price compared to shopping centre parking and are just a short walk away. Booking ahead and parking slightly away from the crowds often means less queuing to get in and out of congested car parks and paying on-the-day at busy ticket machines, so you could actually be saving time.”
Further evidence shows that heading down to the south-west in Bristol and shoppers enjoying the facilities at Cabot Circus would need to pay £7.30 with the official parking for a six hour stay, versus £3.75 with YourParkingSpace.co.uk for a site only six minutes’ walk away.
“We would urge shoppers to do some research before they head-off. Just a few minutes looking online could uncover some real parking bargains, leaving more money for Christmas shopping.”
