Drivers from richest Leeds postcode are ‘worst’

MOTORISTS in one of Leeds’ most affluent areas have been named and shamed as the worst drivers in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Drivers living in LS17 - which includes Alwoodley and Harewood - received more than 1,000 fixed penalty notices for careless driving and speeding last year, more than any other area in the region, research by road safety charity Brake revealed.

Today, a Wakefield woman whose brother was killed when he was hit by a driver speeding at twice the limit, joined calls for motorists to act more responsibly. “No family should have to go through what we have,” she said.
