Demolition plan for landmark Leeds pub

A PLANNING application has been submitted to Leeds City Council seeking permission for the demolition of a landmark pub building.

Park Designed Homes Ltd wants to pull down the now-closed Beulah pub on Tong Road in Farnley and replace it with six new four-bedroomed houses.

A document lodged as part of the firm’s planning application says the scheme offers a “logical opportunity to redevelop an underused public house and bring a brownfield area of land into residential usage in a desirable area close to employment centres”.

It also says the two-storey homes would have a “contemporary but sensitive” appearance.

Comments on the application can be submitted to the council until July 22.
