Members of Barwick in Bloom are celebrating after an impressive showing in this year’s Britain in Bloom awards.
Barwick in Elmet picked up a gold prize in the large village category of the horticultural contest.
Barwick in Bloom secretary Geoff Yapp said: “This is a tremendous result for the village and a much justified award for all our volunteers and helpers.
“The support which we receive is second to none and we are over the moon to get yet another great result in this nationwide competition.”
But Barwick isn’t the only place in east Leeds feeling pleased as punch with the contest’s outcome.
Kippax scooped a gold in the urban community section of the competition and was also recognised for its efforts to involve young people with its work. The other Yorkshire winners were Filey (coastal up to 12k) and Harrogate (small city).
