YORKSHIRE’S rail network was thrown into chaos today after a fault disrupted services out of Leeds.

“Overhead wire problems” were blamed for 60-minute delays and cancellations on routes between Leeds, Sheffield, Doncaster and London.

Northern, East Coast, East Midlands and CrossCountry trains were all affected by the problems in the Outwood area of Leeds, Network Rail said.

The delays were expected to stretch into the afternoon.
