Dance classes aimed at boosting south Leeds youngsters are launched

A Middleton-based dance teacher who has toured the country performing is urging inactive south Leeds youngsters to take up the hobby.

Sophie Simpson, team officer at Nouveau Wellbeing which is based at Tenants Hall Enterprise Centre, hopes to make a difference in the area after a successful career in the dance industry.

Nouveau Wellbeing, which is a not-for-profit firm, has launched subsidised dance classes at Cockburn High School for teenage girls from all over south Leeds.

The classes take place every Friday from 4pm. The first session for new starters is free and every class after costs £2.50.

Sophie, 33, from Huddersfield, said: “There are so many benefits including fitness and health, using dance as an outlet to express themselves, and possibly even a new career path.”
