Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers were given send-offs to remember as they left West Yorkshire for their date with sporting destiny at Wembley.
Hundreds of supporters turned out today to cheer the team buses on their way ahead of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup final clash between the two White Rose rivals.
Many of the fans who lined the streets around Headingley Carnegie Stadium and the MAH Jungle came armed with flags and other colourful items.
One six-year-old Rhinos supporter, Amber Buckle, from Bramley, had even made her own banner wishing Brett Delaney all the best for Saturday’s game in London.
Leeds head coach Brian McDermott said: “It was great to see so many fans take time out of their day to come and wave the team off on the trip to Wembley, it really meant a lot to myself and the players.
“The number of good wishes we have received since we booked our place in the final has been incredible and we would like to thank all of our fans for their support and hope all those making the journey to Wembley have a fantastic day.”
Fans have also responded in fine style to a Twitter appeal from the YEP for good luck messages for the sides. Here are some of the best:
