Woman airlifted to hospital after crash with North Yorkshire train at level crossing

A woman has sustained head and leg injuries after a car collided with a train in North Yorkshire today.

She was trapped in the VW Polo car following the incident which happened at a level crossing in Dolly Lane, Yafforth, just before 2.05pm.

Two Northallerton crews from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene and cut her from the vehicle.

The woman was taken directly to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
