The driver of a car who left the scene of a crash, which left a woman with serious injuries and three young children having to be cut free, has been found by police.

Following last night's crash on the A650 Bingley Road, near The Hop Pub, when a grey Mercedes E Class travelling towards Saltaire was in collision with a grey Mazda 3, police said they were actively looking for the driver of the vehicle that failed to stop.

Today in a statement West Yorkshire Police said: "The male driver of the Mazda left the scene but has since been spoken to by police."

A 34-year old female front seat passenger in the Mercedes was seriously injured and taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time. The driver of the Mercedes, and three other passengers, children aged between five and 11, received minor injuries and were taken to hospital for check-ups.

The stretch of road was closed for some time while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Constable Jon Moss of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team West said; "I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have seen either vehicle described prior to the incident, or who witnessed the collision itself to come forward with any information. Enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with information should contact PC Moss at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team West via 101 quoting 1755 of March 3.
