The death of a man found fatally injured on a Leeds street is now being treated by police as “unexplained” but not suspicious.
The 34-year-old man was discovered in a car park on Whitelock Street in Sheepscar at about 7.30am yesterday. (Jan 15)
He had injuries to his face and head and was rushed to the major trauma unit at Leeds General Infirmary, but died a short time later.
Detectives initially said they were keeping an “open mind” about what had happened and could not rule out a criminal attack.
But, following a post mortem on Wednesday afternoon, they said they do not believe his death was suspicious.
A cordon which was put up around much of the surrounding area remains in place today as officers gather evidence.
It is understood detectives are awaiting the results of toxicology tests before confirming how the man died.
They said they were not yet in a position to release his identity.
