RAM-RAIDERS USED a stolen transit van to smash through shutters before stealing around 40 tyres from a Leeds business.

Police were alerted last night at 10.30pm after a white transit van was seen repeatedly ramming the shutter doors of ATS Euromaster in the Cross Green area.

The van was accompanied by a dark-coloured hatchback car and a number of suspects entered the premises in Cross Green Lane.

They stole around 40 tyres of various makes, including Michelin and Avon, before driving off.

The van, which had been stolen from Wakefield, was later found in East End Park.

Detective Inspector Neil Thompson, of Leeds District Crime Team, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident and would like to hear from anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered new tyres in suspicious circumstances that might be those that have been stolen.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District Crime Team via 101 quoting crime number 13160297186 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111..
