Police investigate early hours sex attack

A woman was sexually assaulted close to shops in the early hours of this morning.

The 44-year-old was attacked near Eastmoor Post Office and the Albion Inn on Stanley Road, Eastmoor, Wakefield.

Police have cordoned off the scene.

Det Chief Insp Adrian Taylor, of West Yorkshire Police’s protective services department, said: “We are investigating following a sexual assault on a 44-year-old woman which is reported to have happened at around 12.45am this morning in Stanley Road.

“Our enquiries are in their very early stages but if anyone does have any information which could help the ongoing investigation I would ask them to call the police.”
