With the influx of newbies on Merrion Street of late, it’s impressive that some of the stalwarts are still just as popular as when they first opened their doors.

The influx of newbies have helped the area become one of the city’s busiest drinking destinations, so it’s no wonder that some of the older and smaller bars are finding the need to expand.

And there’s one bar in particular that has set its sights set on something big.

City Buzz understands that The Reform is planning a two-floor expansion.

The bar, which is owned by the same people behind Call Lane Social and Verve, could expand into the four flats above it.

The first and second floor areas would mean much more space for revellers, and hopefully more custom.

It’s good to see stalwarts like The Reform upping their game and attempting to stay one step ahead of their new competition.

Thanks to factors including the nearby First Direct Arena, Grand Arcade and pedestrianisation, it seems the buzz of Merrion Street isn’t dissipating anytime soon.

So let’s hope these exciting expansion plans will pay off for this popular Leeds drinking den.
