LEEDS’ shopping arcades have been through some tough times.

The more historic arcades have seen several tenants come and go, and with the arrival of developments such as Trinity Leeds and the upcoming Victoria Gate scheme, footfall in certain area has and will continue to shift and change.

One of the arcades that seems set to have gone through a big change recently is Central Arcade. Previously a fairly forgotten arcade, it’s now a key run-through from Briggate to places like Mrs Atha’s, Bird and Beast, Pieminister, Kirkgate Market and the Corn Exchange, to name a few.

And it’s been quietly filling up with tenants recently.

Independent fashion retailers such as Audere, Bo Carter and Your Dressing Room have already set up shop in the arcade – and soon another retailer will be joining the ranks.

The new addition will be denim brand Denham, which is opening its first UK store outside London at this very arcade.

The brand was started by English jeanmaker Jason Denham and has proved to be immensely popular, with outlets opening across the globe and celebrity fans including the likes of model Jourdan Dunn and pop star Usher.

It speaks volumes about Leeds’ appeal that the city has lured the company here for their first store outside the capital.

And it says even more about the arcade, which we think is set to flourish.

Denham is due to open at the Central Arcade at the beginning of July, so keep your eyes peeled.
