Leeds murder accused appears before Crown Court for first time

A man charged with the murder of his 17-year-old partner has appeared before a Crown court for the first time.

Morgan Banks, 18, appeared before Leeds Crown Court yesterday (Oct 19) over the death of Sophie Smith.

Ms Smith was found injured in a flat in a house at Tempest road, Beeston, in the early hours of Friday.

Banks appeared before the court via a prison videolink. No pleas were entered. A plea hearing will take place on November 17 and Banks was told he will remain in custody until that date.
