WITNESSES to a vicious assault - possibly with a spade - which left a man with a fractured skull are being sought by police in Leeds.

The 41-year-old victim of the attack in Pudsey is in a stable condition in hospital after the attack, which happened at around midnight on Saturday, April 23.

The man was attacked with an implement - possibly a spade - on Owlcotes Terrace, near to the junction with Owlcotes Road.

He was taken to the LGI with a number of head injuries, including a fractured skull, but it is believed they are not life threatening.

A 27-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently on police bail pending further inquiries.

North West Leeds CID have appealed for anyone who saw the incident or has any information to call Det Con Nathalie Tasker at Weetwood via 0845 606 0606.

Police believe witnesses may be reluctant to come forward for fear of reprisals and, if so, are encouraging people to give information anonymously and in confidence by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
