Leeds man charged with murder

Detectives investigating the death of a 21-year-old Leeds woman have charged a man with murder.

Lewis Pierre, 24, of Leeds, has also been charged with robbery and rape and has been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Daria Pionko was found on Springwell Road, Holbeck, at 1.18am on December 23.

The Polish woman, who police say was a sex worker living in Leeds, was found in a “managed” red light zone created for prostitutes to work without fear of police action.

Floral tributes have been left at the spot where she was found and a memorial service is planned on Holbeck Lane at 2.30pm today.
